We are looking forward to meeting you all and getting to know you.

Reception is always a fun year, where we learn all the skills required to prepare children for their school career.

Children will start school full-time from Monday 13th September 2021.

Please find below our class information, how you can help at home, our timetable and our learning for this term.

Reception follows the Early Years curriculum which is split into seven areas of learning. At Primet we teach these areas through a balance of focused activities with an adult and through planned play within the areas of the classroom, shared area and outdoor area, which are enhanced with activities related to our topic and children's interests. At all times, we consider characteristics of effective learning which promotes positive attitudes to learning, enthusiasm for knowledge and the confidence to become successful learners.

How you can help at home:

At the beginning of each new topic a 'Home Learning Menu' will be sent home with suggested activities for you and your child to complete together. Please have fun trying some of these activities.

  • Talk about the numbers, colours, words and letters you see when you are out and about.
  • Encourage your child to be independent, for example, getting dressed by themselves.
