Monday 20th April 2020
Good Morning all,
Hopefully you have all made the most of the Easter Holiday's. Keeping safe and looking after each other. Ms O'keefe and I are missing all of the children and are looking forward to all of our return, once the government decide that it is safe to do so. We are still unsure how long this situation will continue for but we do know, from the daily news conferences, that lockdown will be continuing for at least another 3 weeks'
Please keep sending us e-mails to let us know how you are getting on, we have thoroughly enjoyed the pictures we have received of you all enjoying your learning!
Remember that Ms O'keefe and I are always here if you need any support.
Please see below for Monday's home learning- any attachments that you may need are at the bottom of the page.
Read and enjoy Chapter 1 of the text The train to impossible places.
(You will need to become a member of the LoveReading4Kids community. Membership is free).
Look at the vocabulary in the chapter. Find these words and discuss the meaning: sprawled, stifle, unruly, enthusiasm, rare, affliction, sparked, forming, oblivious.
Are there any other words that you can find that are exciting words or any new words?
Discuss meanings of these words.
Look up some of the new words you have found in a dictionary or by using Word Hippo (A free app) https://www.wordhippo.com/
Can you find synonyms for your words and write these as a word bank that you might use later in the week?
Create a wordsearch or a crossword using the new words that you have explored. See if someone in your family can solve either your wordsearch or crossword.
I have attached the next 10 comprehension tasks to the bottom of the Page. For today the children will just need to complete War Boy.
Maths: Attached at the bottom of the page is an Arithmetic paper and a Maths paper with sections A, B and C. This is an introduction to Bar charts. Chn are to use the data provided to create their own Bar Charts.
Remember to check out Miss Dark's page for PE and Miss O'Keefe's page for Art tasks. Children should also continue to access TTRockstars each day and read for 15 minutes.
Please look after yourselves and we look forward to hearing from you soon,
