Our School Council
Every Voice Matters, Every Idea Counts!
At Primet Primary School, we believe that every child has a voice, every opinion matters and every pupil has the power to make a positive difference.
Our School Council is a team of enthusiastic, thoughtful and dedicated pupils who work together to make our school the very best it can be. Voted by their peers, they are passionate about representing their classmates, sharing ideas and ensuring that everyone feels listened to, included and valued.
Our School Council proudly reflects our three school values: Aspire, Respect and Together. These values are at the heart of everything we do and guide our councillors as they work to make a positive difference.
After all, "Being a Primet pupil… there's an ART to it!"
Pupil Voice – Making Every Voice Heard
At Primet Primary, we know that some of the very best ideas come from our children!
Our School Council gives pupils a meaningful opportunity to have their say, suggest improvements and play an active role in shaping school life.
Each year, pupils elect representatives from their year group through a democratic voting process. Children are encouraged to choose representatives who will listen carefully, respect different opinions and speak confidently on behalf of others.
Our councillors aim to meet every half term, supported by a member of staff, to discuss ideas, share feedback from their classmates and explore ways to make Primet an even happier, safer and more exciting place to learn.
Most importantly, our councillors don't just talk about making a difference – they help make it happen!
The ART of Being a School Councillor
At Primet Primary, our school values are more than just words. They shape the way we learn, behave and treat one another.
Our School Councillors are proud ambassadors of our ART values, demonstrating what it truly means to be a Primet pupil.
ASPIRE – Aim High and Make a Difference
Our School Councillors aspire to make Primet Primary the very best it can be. They are encouraged to think creatively, share ambitious ideas and take pride in making positive changes.
They understand that even the smallest idea can grow into something wonderful when we have the confidence and determination to make it happen.
We aspire to make our school even better, one idea at a time!
RESPECT – Every Voice Deserves to Be Heard
Being a School Councillor means listening carefully, valuing different opinions and treating everyone with kindness and consideration.
Our councillors recognise that every pupil has something important to contribute. They respect the views of others, even when they are different from their own, and work to ensure that everyone feels included.
We respect every voice, every idea and every member of our school community.
TOGETHER – Stronger as One School Community
Our School Council believes that the best things happen when we work together.
By supporting one another, sharing responsibilities and making thoughtful decisions, our councillors help create a school where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
They know that positive change is not achieved by one person alone, but through teamwork, cooperation and a shared commitment to making Primet a wonderful place to be.
Together, we can achieve amazing things!
Our School Council Vision
Aspiring to make a difference, respecting every voice and working together to make Primet the best it can be.
Our School Council aims to:
1. Give every child a voice – ensuring that all pupils have opportunities to share their thoughts, opinions and ideas.
2. Aspire to make positive changes – thinking creatively, aiming high and turning good ideas into meaningful action.
3. Respect and value everyone – listening carefully, celebrating differences and ensuring all pupils feel safe, happy and included.
4. Work together as a team – supporting one another and making decisions that benefit our whole school community.
5. Be positive role models – demonstrating our ART values through our words, actions and choices.
6. Celebrate our school community – sharing achievements, exciting events and pupil experiences through our Pupil Newsletter.
Making a Difference – Our ART in Action!
Our School Council has already helped to make a real difference to life at Primet Primary.
Over the years, our councillors have:
• Helped improve our school environment by sharing ideas to make our grounds and learning spaces even better.
• Suggested fun and exciting activities to bring pupils together and make school life even more enjoyable.
• Supported charities and good causes through fundraising and community initiatives.
• Made sure pupil voices are heard by listening to classmates and representing their ideas.
• Celebrated life at Primet by contributing to our Pupil Newsletter and sharing the wonderful things happening across our school.
Each of these achievements demonstrates our ART values in action: aspiring to improve, respecting the needs of others and working together to achieve something special.
We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, creativity and commitment our councillors bring to their roles.
They remind us that you don't have to be the biggest voice to make the biggest difference!
