Welcome to our class page!
Mr Higgins, Ms Mills, Miss Dark, Mrs Haydock and Ms Ashworth

We are looking forward to supporting children and are excited about our year six topics. Here are the topics we will be covering this year:
- Meet the Mayans
- Biographies
- There and Back Again
- Heroes and Villains
- Strange Things
Further information about topic is included in the Medium Term Plans section
Below is our weekly timetable, outlining the subjects your child will take part in each week. It provides a clear snapshot of what a typical week in Year 6 looks like.
Class Timetable

PE
We have PE every Thursday and Friday so make sure your PE kit is in school on these days and that it is labelled.
Homework
Reading
Children are expected to read every day and bring their book bag to school with a completed reading record. This allows children to develop their vocabulary, increase their fluency and understanding. Children will take home a reading book of their choice based on their reading level.
Timestables

Children should spend at least 5 minutes a day learning their timetables and should know their tables up to 12 times. Children can access the amazing TT Rockstars to help them develop their fluency. Timetables provide a foundation for a range of learning in Maths including written multiplication and division, fractions, percentages and time. Try these links for some interactive learning :
Spelling

Spellings will be given on Mondays and tested weekly. Children will be taught spelling strategies in class. This should also be followed up with regular spelling practise using children's own log in for Ed Shed - Spelling Shed. Spelling Shed includes lots of games and interactive activities SO that children can practise spellings in a fun and interactive way. In year 6, we recap tricky spellings from year 3 onwards so children can become better spellers! Click on the links below to practice spellings:
