Our Learning

Religious Education

Intent statement

At Primet Primary School, we are proud of the rich diversity within our community. Our pupils come from a range of backgrounds, with many identifying as Christian, Muslim, or having no faith. We aim to celebrate this diversity while promoting our core values of kindness and respect. Through Religious Education, we encourage children to embrace differences, challenge stereotypes, and develop an understanding of the beliefs and practices of others. By exploring the principal religions represented in Great Britain, pupils gain awareness of the wider world and learn to appreciate the importance of tolerance and inclusion in a modern society.

Implementation

Religious Education is taught for one hour each week across all year groups, following the Lancashire Agreed Syllabus. Lessons are planned to be engaging and inclusive, providing opportunities for discussion, reflection, and enquiry. Pupils learn about Christianity and other principal religions represented in Great Britain, exploring beliefs, practices, and values through stories, artefacts, and real-life examples. Teachers use questioning and active learning strategies to encourage respect, understanding, and critical thinking. Cross-curricular links and themed days further enrich pupils’ experiences and deepen their awareness of diversity within the local and global community.
