The first term of school is an important term at school. We want to ensure the children settle into the school environment and build their confidence to become independent learners. We will be learning about our differences and what makes us special, understanding how to make relationships and how to deal with our emotions.

We will learn about Autumn and will watch for the changes in our outdoor area. We will look at nature- this year the children were interested in birds. We will practice mixing colours to make oranges and browns. We will be collecting Autumn treasures such as leaves, acorns and conkers. We will use them to create art.

One of the first things children learn is how to write our name - you could practice this at home too. 

In maths, we will focus on learning numbers 1-7. 

We will start our phonics journey by learning phase 2 sounds. We blend to read and segment to spell. You can learn more by visiting the Little Wandle
