Curriculum Overviews
Our DT curriculum is structured to give pupils rich, hands-on experience across a wide range of disciplines, including mechanisms, structures, textiles, food technology and electrical systems. Each year group completes thoughtfully planned projects that link to their wider curriculum themes such as pop-ups, moon buggies, frame structures, textiles, windmills, cams and seasonal food dishes. As children progress through school, they build technical knowledge and practical skills in a logical sequence, moving from simple construction and joining methods to more complex mechanical and functional designs. This ensures all pupils develop confidence, creativity and problem-solving abilities as they design and make purposeful products with real-life relevance.
