Phase 3-Lesson 16https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66VrNnJSDPw&list=PLuGr6z2H2KNHY2HITC9jV0a65ED0aD2Ry&index=46

Phase 6- Recap on past tense. For example the adult will say 'Today I am eating an egg' – what did I eat yesterday? The response could be Yesterday you ate a sandwich, Yesterday you ate some jam. The adult could say 'Today I am jumping on the bed'. 'Where did I jump yesterday?' and the response could be Yesterday you jumped in the water, etc.

Today we will look at irregular verbs again. What does irregular verbs mean? When they don't follow the common spelling pattern. Look at how the present tense verbs change to past tense.

leave =left
speak=spoke
wake=woke
forget=forgot
drink=drank

Put these past tense verbs into your own sentences.

Spellings-  See your new spellings attached below. Practise spelling them everyday and put the spellings into sentences. Miss Dawson's phonic group (Group 1) Miss Hugill's phonic group (Group 2).

You can then email a photo of this to us at fundraising@pendleside.org.uk for judging and the winning design will be used on all the marketing material for our sunflower memories appeal 2021. Pendleside Hospice have asked once you have taken a photo of your sunflower to put them up in your windows at home, like you did with the rainbows in 2020 to see if we can spread a little brightness in these times.

Phase 6-

Teach reading and spelling the common exception words money, move, prove, improve, sure, sugar.

Introduce the ‘ing’ suffix and teach the difference between present simple and present progressive.

What is the Present Simple tense?

It is used to describe habits, unchanging situations, general truths, and fixed arrangements. The simple present tense is simple to form. Just use the base form of the verb: (I take, you take, we take, they take) The 3rd person singular takes an -s at the end. ( he takes, she takes)

For example I meet my friend/I eat my dinner/he meets his friends.

What is the Present Progressive Tense?

The present progressive tense (sometimes called the present continuous) is a tense which describes an action which began in the past and is still going on now.

The present progressive requires a present form of the verb ‘to be’ and the ‘-ing’ form of the main verb.

Any sentence that uses ‘is’ or ‘are’ and then a verb with the '–ing' suffix is present progressive tense.

 For example, I am meeting my friend or I am eating my dinner.
