Reception

EYFS has achieved the Step into Quality Award.

We are incredibly proud to announce that the Primet team has been awarded the Step into Quality Mark for EYFS. This achievement is a reflection of our team’s tireless hard work and unwavering dedication to providing the very best start for our youngest learners. It’s more than just an award; it’s a promise to our families that excellence in Early Years education is at the heart of everything we do. The quality improvement programme has been extremely successful in raising standards in the early years in Lancashire schools.

Mrs Bury, Mrs Dawson and Miss Monaghan welcome you to Reception.

The Reception year is a wonderful and exciting year, where children are encouraged to become confident, enthusiastic, and independent learners. At Primet Primary, we’re fortunate to have a spacious and inspiring environment for learning. Our children enjoy access to their own classroom, a shared area, an outdoor space, and a Forest School. Each of these areas is enriched with activities that connect to our topics and reflect the children’s needs and interests. Take a look

The topics we are learning about this year are:

  • We Are All Unique
  • It's Growing Cold
  • Amazing Animals
  • Traditional Tales
  • In the Garden
  • Our Wonderful World

For more information about our topics and our areas of learning, please see the Meet the Teacher information and the long term plan.

Below is our weekly timetable, outlining the subjects and activities your child will take part in each week. It provides a clear overview of what a typical week in Reception looks like.

Class Timetable

PE

In Reception, we have PE on Thursday. Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school and all items of clothing are labelled with their names.

Homework

  • Read with your child every night. This will enhance their phonics knowledge and reading skills which in turn will foster a love for reading. Please ensure children bring their reading book into school every day. These are changed on Mondays.
  • Practise tricky frequency words

Important Information

  • Please label all their clothing, including coats, as this makes it much easier to identify items that go missing.
  • Especially for the first few weeks, please send your child to school with a change of clothes including underwear and socks – as accidents do happen.
  • In reception, we play outside every day. Please ensure your child has a coat and sensible shoes. Labelled wellies may be left in school.
  • For information about preparing your child for starting school, check out our new to reception page.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to speak to one of us - we’re always happy to help.
