The progression of skills document outlines the range of skills taught from reception to year 6.  This has been based on decoding and fluency, and the reading domains: 

• 1a, 2a: vocabulary
• 1b, 2b: retrieve and record information
• 1c, 2c; sequence and summarise
• 1d, 2d: make inferences
• 1e, 2e: make predictions
• 2f: how information relates to the meaning
• 2g: interesting words and phrases
• 2h: make comparisons
