Our Learning

Autumn 2 - 'Why Wear a Poppy?' and 'Is there Anybody Outhere?'

This half term, we shall be completing a short week long topic in the run up to Armistice day.  They children will be studying a range of war poems to gain an insight into what life was like in World War 1 and to understand the reason why people wear poppies at this time of year.  The children will also be producing sunset silhouettes on the battle fields and pictures of poppies in the style of Andy Warhol.

Out of this World

We shall be taking a trip into the Solar System as we learn about the planets and develop our understanding of how they move.  We shall learn what causes day and night and how the seasons are created on Earth.

We shall also be thinking more critically about the possibility of life somewhere within the universe as we read and develop our own science fiction stories based on the book 'War of the Worlds'.
